Recipe: Soft Size-base Paint
Before the chemical modification of cellulose and the production of water-soluble cellulose glue, glue-/gelatin-/size-base paints were made from the gelatine and glue-forming tissues that occur in the bones, skins and intestines of animals. Bone glue is a very hard, brittle glue with high adhesive power. For wall paint, skin glue and rabbit-skin glue are more suitable, because they are more elastic. They are first soaked in water, then heated in a water bath and applied warm, because they can only be used when warm.

Note
Once soft size-base paint does not gel anymore, if it develops a foul odor or mold, it must not be used anymore!
