Recipe: Cellulose Glue Wall Paint

Glue-/Gelatin- or Size-base paints have always been popular due to their easy handling, low costs and beautiful color-clear, matt finish. The most important property of glue-/gelatinor size-base paints is their easy washability and reversibility. In fact, glue-/size-base paints have to be washed o. before repainting can take place because they cannot be painted over. The use of glue-/size-base paint, however, is especially recommended, due to the ecologic, hygienic, physical and aesthetic advantages it provides. Glue-/Gelatin-/Size-base paint is suitable for the following surfaces: lime plaster, lime-cement plaster, synthetic resin plaster, dispersion paints. The surface must be thoroughly dry and free of dirt.

Processing

Dissolve 400 grams of Tylose® in 10 liters of cold water, constantly stirring. Keep stirring until the cellulose glue no longer floats. Let the mixture soak overnight. Step 1#168: Dissolve 400 grams of Tylose® in 10 liters of cold water, constantly stirring. Keep stirring until the cellulose glue no longer floats. Let the mixture soak overnight.
For pure white paint, soak 5 kilograms of Titanium White together with 5 kilograms of Chalk from Champagne in cold water (1 liter of pigment in 0.5 liter of water). Let it soak overnight. Bit by bit, sprinkle the pigments and the filler in small portions onto the water surface and let it sink in (do not stir!). Step 2#312: For pure white paint, soak 5 kilograms of Titanium White together with 5 kilograms of Chalk from Champagne in cold water (1 liter of pigment in 0.5 liter of water). Let it soak overnight. Bit by bit, sprinkle the pigments and the filler in small portions onto the water surface and let it sink in (do not stir!).
For delamination, mix together one part pigment paste and one part Tylose glue solution (stir well). Step 3#100: For delamination, mix together one part pigment paste and one part Tylose glue solution (stir well).
Dilute the mixture with glue water until it shows a spreadable viscosity. Glue water consists of 1 liter of Tylose glue solution and 10 liters of cold water. If the surface is very absorbent, you can use glue water as a primer.
The paint covers approximately 200 m2. Step 4#267: Dilute the mixture with glue water until it shows a spreadable viscosity. Glue water consists of 1 liter of Tylose glue solution and 10 liters of cold water. If the surface is very absorbent, you can use glue water as a primer. The paint covers approximately 200 m2.

Ingredients

400 g Tylose® MH 300 P2 (#63600)
5 kg Titanium White Rutile (#46200)
5 kg Chalk from Champagne (#58000)
10 l Water - cold!

Note

Instead of white pigments, you can also use other color pigments for this recipe to get different colors of wall paint. Soak 10 kilograms of pigment in cold water (1 kilogram pigment in 0,5 liter water) and let it rest overnight. It is necessary to test whether or not the hue dries in the desired manner. Maybe you have to add some more pigment, but be careful! Glue paint may only be mixed with glue paint, because the addition of pigment to paint causes lumps. Gluing and dilute as described above. Cadmium pigments are not recommended for wall paints!

We assume no liability for the processing instructions described above. In any case, we recommend the production and evaluation of sample surfaces.
