Recipe: Acrylic Gesso

For use on canvas, paper and wood.

Processing

Stir the Tylose® (#63610) into 700 ml of water until it is dispersed without forming lumps, and let it rest overnight. When the glue has dissolved, add 150 milliliters of Dispersion K 498 (#76000), then add the pigments and the white color paste (#27000). Applied as a thin ground layer on canvas or paper, this gesso provides an elastic surface. Thicker layers of gesso can be sanded if applied onto wood. This recipe makes about 1 liter of gesso. 100 g Kremer Color Paste - Titanium White (#27000)
700 ml Boiled water
